چکیده

Theoretical study on H2(+) in an intense infrared laser field on the attosecond time scale reveals that the molecular ion shows multiple bursts of ionization within a half-cycle of the laser field oscillation, in contrast to the widely accepted tunnel ionization picture for an atom. These bursts are found to be induced by transient localization of the electron at one of the nuclei, and a relation between the time instants of the localization and the vector potential of the laser light is derived. A scheme is proposed to probe the localization dynamics by an extreme ultraviolet laser pulse.

Time-resolved view on charge-resonance-enhanced ionization

We theoretically investigate the electronic dynamics in the hydrogen molecular ion at fixed intermediate internuclear distances in two-dimensional space for the electron in a linearly polarized laser field. Our results of numerical simulations confirm the predictions of multiple bursts of ionization within a half cycle of the laser field oscillation as recently reported for one-dimensional mode...

Visualization and interpretation of attosecond electron dynamics in laser-driven hydrogen molecular ion using Bohmian trajectories.

We analyze the attosecond electron dynamics in hydrogen molecular ion driven by an external intense laser field using the Bohmian trajectories. To this end, we employ a one-dimensional model of the molecular ion in which the motion of the protons is frozen. The Bohmian trajectories clearly visualize the electron transfer between the two protons in the field and, in particular, confirm the recen...

High-harmonic spectroscopy of laser-driven nonadiabatic electron dynamics in the hydrogen molecular ion

We theoretically explore a mechanism resulting in a minimum in the high-harmonic spectrum of a hydrogen molecular ion driven at extended internuclear distances by a mid-infrared laser source. Our analysis identifies this minimum to be a signature of the transient localization of the electron upon alternating nuclear centers and is representative of dynamics occurring exclusively at the time of ...

Direct visualization of laser-driven electron multiple scattering and tunneling distance in strong-field ionization.

Using a simple model of strong-field ionization of atoms that generalizes the well-known 3-step model from 1D to 3D, we show that the experimental photoelectron angular distributions resulting from laser ionization of xenon and argon display prominent structures that correspond to electrons that pass by their parent ion more than once before strongly scattering. The shape of these structures ca...

Nonsequential double ionization of the hydrogen molecule in a few-cycle laser pulse

We present ab initio calculations of the interaction of the hydrogen molecule with an intense few-cycle near-infrared laser pulse beyond the one-dimensional approximation. The results show that the two pathways to nonsequential double ionization of the molecule, namely, the emission of a correlated electron pair near the zeros of the field and the electron emission from the previously excited m...
